Moniek Darge
The collection Muziekdozen ('music boxes' in Dutch) in Het Klankenbos tells a poetical, audiovisual story. They hold tiny sounds, subtle reflections, humour and a little bit of liberating kitsch. Moniek Darge frequently explores flea markets to find interesting elements for her music boxes. Her unique creations affect our imagination and let listeners discover the exciting sound universe.
These sound objects are not exposed in Het Klankenbos but are used in the game Musical Treasure Hunt for kids.
Moniek Darge (BE) studied music theory and violin, as well as fine arts, art history, philosophy and anthropology. She is as cofounder of Logos Foundation in Ghent, active as a composer, violinist and performer. She also teaches, writes articles and gives lectures.
