Het Klankenbos, Toekomstlaan 5, 3910 Pelt

SAAB SCULPTURE VI: PLACES UNSEEN (2021) focuses on the physicality of sound. During her residency, artist Amber Meulenijzer will transform her iconic Saab 900 into a reflective sound sculpture. This reflective installation is part of the Saab Sculptures series, in which Meulenijzer places her iconic Saab 900 like a sculpture in different contexts, transforming the spaces in which it is situated. The audio piece PLACES UNSEEN is composed for the twelve Toa loud speakers mounted on top of the roof and resonates with the acoustics of the surroundings.

Amber Meulenijzer (BE, 1994) has a background in sound and visual art, and seeks out the tension between these fields in her work. By combining banal tristesse with everyday wonder, intuition and a general curiosity for the limits and flexibility of different materials; she creates work with theatrical, cinematographic and poetic elements. The role of silence and the spectator are investigated, through the interplay of presence and non presence.
