Anne van de Star (°1988) lives and works in Antwerp. She studied mixed media and visual arts. She is one part of the electronic sound and music duo MONOMONO and an active member of Collectief Publiek Geluid. In her artistic practice, she constructs worlds with objects, images and sounds. In many cases her research is based on the technique of sampling and deconstruction. She presents her works in concerts, installations, videos and albums.

During her residency in Musica, Anne continued her research on the relationship between visual and acoustic oscillation. The intended end result is a large-scale kinetic sound-installation with multiple hanging objects, that immerses the spectator in unpredictable movements, loops and events.

For Radio Forest Sessions, Anne presents her composition ‘MB40D and silk’. This piece is based on audio recordings of a turning disco ball motor and a waving sheet of silk. With minimal digital processing and manipulation the composition emphasizes the differences and similarities of the two sound sources, the electric drone and the tactile rubbing. This creates a dialogue between motor and cloth, between hard and soft, between the device and product.

The Klankenbos Residencies are a collaboration with C-TAKT.
