The Japanese percussionist Aya Suzuki works during her residency on the soundart performance 'Spill' by Erik Griswold. Through experimentation with 30 kg of rice she made a kinesthetic shower of sound and works with various objects: temple bells, rice paper, bowls and home-made instruments.

Aya Suzuki started making music at the age of 6. She went to the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, where she recieved lessons from the extremely innovative marimba-player Keiko Abe. In 2012 she won first prize in the Marimba Spiritual competition. She is currently studying a masters at Gent Conservatory under Wim Koninck. She has played solo concerts at the Festival van Vlaanderen, the BEAT IT!-festival in Concertgebouw Brugge, in the Handelsbeurs and in STUK.

'Spill' - a performance by Aya Suzuki on the installation from Erik Griswold can be seen at Klankenbos on 25 April from 17:00 during Klankenbos Nocturne for kids.
